Hope House

September 30, 1916 — July 1, 2013

L. Hope House, age 96, of Grants Pass, died Monday, July 1, 2013 at her son’s home in Central Point.

A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 8, 2013 at Savage Street Church of Christ with Don Ruhl, Minister officiating. Private interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Hope was born September 30, 1916 in Summerfield, Oklahoma to Henry & Bonnie (Duncan) Martin. At the age of five, she moved with her family to Orange, California. In 1932 she moved to Oregon and in 1935 moved to Grants Pass. On November 17, 1935 in Grants Pass she married Walter House.

Hope was a member of the Church of Christ all her life and was baptized in Orange, California in 1929. She was a member of Savage Street Church of Christ since 1935.

Her hobbies included painting – oil, china and porcelain; fishing; hunting; camping; and horseback riding.

She is survived by a daughter, Gloria Hill-Barsuglia of Medford, Oregon; a son, Don House of Central Point, Oregon; two sisters, June Ivens of Phoenix, Arizona and Jean Brence of Rainier, Oregon; a brother, Foy Martin of Springfield, Oregon; ten grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter House and a daughter, Anita Dyer in 2007.
