Helen Ethel Kershner Guymon

Helen Ethel Kershner Guymon, passed away at the age of 97 due to congestive heart failure at her son’s home in Grants Pass.

She was born September 5, 1924 to Harold Eugene Kershner and Alma Ovedia (Norby) in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

At the age of five, Helen began singing; and developed a love for tap dancing, school vaudevilles, and the Glee Club. Her love of music included a Trio with her sisters, Gladys and Ruth.

On July 3, 1964 in Reno, Nevada, Helen married Bruce; they were later sealed in the Oakland California Temple. Helen worked and Baskin and Robbins in Burbank, California; and worked at Montgomery Ward in Grants Pass until she retired in 1975.

Together with her husband, Helen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Murphy Creek Ward, and she loved to sing in the choir. Bruce and Helen helped with fund-raising for the church’s Savage Street building and Grants Pass Stake Center. In 1979, the couple served a mission at church headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah where they assisted with senior couple missionary assignments.

Survivors include a step-daughter, Veronica Lynn Seiveno of National City, California; a son, Brian Guymon of Grants Pass; six grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce R Guymon, son James Rusconi, her parents, and siblings.
