Helen Charlene Nyberg

Helen Charlene Nyberg, age 83, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Pastor Russ Millsaps officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

She was born October 20, 1924 in Wellington, Kansas to Charles & Bernice Robbins. At the age of four, she moved with her family to Enid, Oklahoma where she was raised and in 1942 graduated from Enid High School. She then moved to Pasadena, California. On May 2, 1966 in Las Vegas, Nevada she married Merle Oscar Nyberg. She was a devoted Navy wife and mother, traveling the world to places such as Guam, Hawaii, The Philippines, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. She had a long and varied career as a full charge bookkeeper, including two favorite local restaurants and several local businesses. In 1975 following her husband’s retirement, they moved to Grants Pass.

She will be remembered for her love of life , sense of humor, and kindness to others. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles, traveling and going to restaurants.

In addition to her husband of 42 years, Merle Nyberg of Grants Pass; she is survived by two daughters, Lynn Wright of Eureka, California and Beverly Stout of Roseville, Minnesota; two sons, Michael Cain of Poulsbo, Washington and Kevin Cain of Honolulu, Hawaii; and four grandchildren.
