Harvey E. Campbell

Harvey E. Campbell, age 86, of Wolf Creek, died Monday, October 8, 2007 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

A visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 am, Friday, October 12, 2007 in the Relief Society Room at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Merlin Ward on Jump Off Joe Creek Road. A funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Harvey was born February 8, 1921 in Coweta, Oklahoma to Samuel & Alta (Adney) Campbell. He grew up in Coolidge, Arizona. From 1942 to 1945 he served in the Coast Guard as Seaman, Second Class where he worked on shore patrol and was a radar operator in the San Pedro area of California. He also played guitar and sang at the NCO clubs. On December 20, 1943 in Hawthorne, California he married Melva Orlena Metcalf who died October 14, 2003. He worked as a cab driver in Merced, California and Grants Pass. Later he worked at Caveman Camper in the 70’s and then retired. In 2005 he moved from Merlin to Wolf Creek.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Merlin Ward.

He enjoyed Native American geneology, crafts, jewelry making, animals, country music and playing guitar.

Survivors include three sisters, Virginia Rackley and Lola Gish both of Grants Pass; and Opal Harp of Anchorage, Alaska; two brothers, Herman Campbell of Grants Pass and Paul Campbell of Albany, Oregon; friend, Inge McCutchen of Wolf Creek.
