Harold "Bud" Parmelee

March 11, 1923 — June 7, 2022

Harold “Bud” Parmelee, age 99, of Grants Pass, died June 7, 2022 at Countryside Village Lodge.

He was born Harold Oren Parmelee on March 11, 1923 to Harold Oren Parmelee Sr. and Edith (Fletcher) in Bell, California. On September 15, 1941 in Belvedere, California he married the former Esther Marie (McLaughlin). Together with his wife, he moved to Grants Pass from Lynwood, California in 1943; after which the couple bought a ranch in Rogue River where they raised their five children. His first job was at Marble Mountain Quarry, after which he drove a milk truck for Grants Pass Creamery. He also worked for Milton Logging Company as a log truck driver, then O.N.C. Motor Freight as a driver and dock foreman until he retired in 1979 after 33 years.

Bud loved hunting, fishing, and always included his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was the greatest dad ever and was always there for his family. He is finally home with his beloved wife, Esther…the beautiful momma of their children.

Bud was a member of the Foots Creek Chapel in Gold Hill and volunteered with the Gospel Rescue Mission.

His family includes his five children Randall Parmelee (Velma) of Prineville, Carolyn Clark (William “Dusty”) of Grants Pass, Nancy McCormick (Harley) of Grants Pass, Harold A. Parmelee (Patti) of Canby, and Beverly Young (Mike) of Grants Pass; brother Perry Parmelee (Lois) of Lakeview; 24 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren.

His beloved wife of 72 years went to heaven on December 27, 2013 and was missed very much. Four brothers, Warren, Harvey, Kenneth, and Wallace Parmelee passed away before him.

A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 10:30 a.m., at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens with Pastor Curt Christian of Foots Creek Chapel officiating, and Military Funeral Honors by the United States Marine Corps.
