H. Arlene Huddleston

May 31, 1934 — June 16, 2014

H. Arlene Huddleston, age 80, of Grants Pass, died Monday, June 16, 2014 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center in Grants Pass.

Viewing will be from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, June 20, 2014 and Recitation of the Rosary beginning at 7:30 pm at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 21, 2014 at St. Anne Catholic Church. Military Funeral Honors will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Butte, Montana at a later date. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Those wishing may make memorial contributions to St. Anne Catholic School, 1131 NE 10th Street, Grants Pass OR 97526.

She was born Helen Arlene Huddleston to James and Mary (Mulcahy) Huddleston on May 31, 1934 in Butte, Montana. Arlene moved to Richmond, California with her family. She attended school and graduated from Richmond High School. After graduating with a Registered Nursing degree from Sacred Heart Nursing School in Spokane, Washington, she joined her brother’s medical practice, Dr. Robert Huddleston. Later she joined the Army Nurse Corp and was called to active duty during the Cuban Missile Crises, and in Korea, Vietnam, Germany and Stateside. She advanced to the rank of Major and earned the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device; Army Commendation Medal W/V Device; One Overseas Bar; Bronze Star Medal; AOM; AFRM; Vietnam Counteroffensive Phase II; Vietnam Counteroffensive Phase III.

Memberships include the Army Nurse Corps, St. Anne Catholic Church and the American Legion.

Arlene volunteered her time with St. Vincent de Paul and St. Anne Catholic School.

Hobbies included traveling and fishing.

Survivors include her friend and roommate of more than 40 years, Anna Jean Nagelhout of Grants Pass; and her brother, John P. Huddleston of Concord, California.
