Gyle Harold Mclean

Gyle Harold McLean, 93, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at Fair View Transitional Health Center.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm, Monday, June 19, 2006 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 19, 2006 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Pastor Wes Winn officiating. Interment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will immediately follow at First Christian Church, 305 SW H Street.

Gyle was born July 5, 1912 in Monroe, Washington to Claude and Ida McLean. He grew up in Portland where he graduated from high school and had a lawn maintenance business for a short time. He moved to Valsetz, Oregon where he worked in the logging industry. On June 21, 1941 in Forest Grove he married Audrey Leora Miller and they lived in Valsetz for the first ten years of their marriage. In 1953 they moved to Grants Pass.

For several years he was an active foster parent and for 32 years delivered the Grants Pass Daily Courier with Audrey.

He loved his family, fishing, hunting, and gardening. He also loved to sing which all of his family will remember forever his beautiful “Bing Crosby” voice.

Gyle is survived by his children, David McLean and his wife Peggy of Grants Pass; Sandra Outlaw and her husband Ken of Medford; Nancy Townes and her husband Mark of Grants Pass; Pam James and her husband Bill of Tualatin; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a niece, Karen Keyser of Portland; and a nephew, Claude McLean of Roseburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey McLean on February 5, 2006 and a brother, Clifford McLean.
