Gordon Eugene Perrin

September 8, 1960 — December 26, 2021

Gordon Eugene Perrin passed away in the loving presence of his family at his home on December 26, 2021.

Gordon was born and raised in the Bay Area, and attended college in Denver, CO. Afterward he returned to his hometown, started his career as an auto mechanic, and raised a family. He taught his daughter Megan how to drive a stick shift without using the clutch, his son Jacob how to work on cars, and his son Tyler how to cook without following the recipe.

From his first Redline Hot Wheels to his years as a mechanic to his many restoration projects, Gordon was a car guy. He continued collecting Hot Wheels for many years, becoming active within the Bay Area's toy car communities. His own garage was never without another work in progress. His most recent and favorite project was his 1967 Pontiac GTO convertible.

He made Grants Pass his home in 2004. In all of the places he lived and worked, Gordon made and kept many, many friends. He gave most of his time and energy to others. When cancer began to take those things away from him, he gave what was left. A good friend recently told his son Jacob, "There needs to be more people in this world like your Dad." Gordon's family, friends, neighbors, customers, co-workers, and acquaintances feel his loss deeply. And though the rest of the world will not know exactly who is missing, something will be missing nonetheless--the patient who remembers the names and ages of his oncologist's children, the driver who waves in the next car (without regard for their bumper stickers), a phone call every single Christmas from the same old friend.

Gordon is survived by daughter Megan Varvais (Matt) of Sacramento, California; two sons Jacob Perrin (Veronica) of Miliken, Colorado and Tyler Perrin of Ventura, California; two sisters Patricia Perrin of Castro Valley, California and Barbara Perrin of Scottsdale, Arizona; brother David Perrin (Kathy) of Sacramento, California; one grandchild; and niece Stephanie Aubry of Grants Pass.

He was preceded in death by his parents David Jules and Beverly June Perrin; brothers Michael and Ron; sister Gilda; and many dear friends.
