Gordon B. Stephenson

Gordon B. Stephenson, age 71, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

A service will be held at Eagle Point National Cemetery at a later date. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Gordon was born July 23, 1940 in McMinnville, Oregon to Dale & Velda (Martin) Stephenson. In 1951 he moved with his family to Grants Pass and in 1958 he graduated from Grants Pass High School. For four years he served in the United States Navy and then attended Oregon State University for one year. On October 1, 1966 Gordon married Betty Biles in Grants Pass. He worked in the auto parts business for a few years and later in the industrial gas business for more than 27 years retiring in 2002.

Gordon loved fishing, hunting, camping, tying flies, woodworking, working on cars, and spending time in the mountains admiring God’s beauty. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and his best friend, Rosey.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Stephenson of Grants Pass, Oregon; four children, Gordon Stephenson Jr “Skip” of Grants Pass, Oregon, Patricia Barnes of Medford, Oregon, Barbara Stephenson of Ramona, California, and Michel Stephenson of Grants Pass, Oregon; his mother, Velda Stephenson of Grants Pass, Oregon; a brother, Roger Stephenson of Fairbanks, Alaska; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Catherine; his father, Dale; and a sister, Roberta Reneau.
