February 5, 1943 — June 7, 2020

The world lost an amazing bright and shining light today as Gloria Bartol’s earthly journey came to an end on June 7, 2020 at Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay, Oregon due to acute organ failure at the age of 77. Gloria is survived by her husband Harold Bartol, her sons Dan Armstrong and James Armstrong, her daughter Michelle Armstrong, her grandson Gage Bach and her sister Janice McIntire. She was born and brought up in Grants Pass, Oregon to Elmer and Grace Thompson and graduated Summa Cum Laude with honors from Southern Oregon University where she earning her master’s degree. She was best known for her pioneering work creating and implementing work restitution programs for troubled youth that helped turn their lives around, while teaching them valuable life and work skills. Gloria’s loving heart and beautiful smile made every stranger a friend and every friend a family member close to her heart! She loved to sing, dance, play the piano at church and spend quality time laughing with family and friends! Gloria will forever be remembered as the classy sweet lady who loved and valued every person she met for exactly who they were! Although she will be forever missed by all of her family and friends who loved her so dearly, we will all take heart knowing that heaven has gained another earth angel who will love and watch over us all! A celebration of life ceremony in her honor will be held at Lakeside Community Church 720 N 8th Street, Lakeside, Oregon on Saturday June 27, 2020 at 2:00 pm. All are welcome to attend!
