Glenn "Flaty" Partch

Glenn “Flaty” Partch, age 90, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Flaty was born October 2, 1920 in Toledo, Washington. During World War II he served in the United States Navy. He served in the Pacific at the Armed Guard Center and received a European African Mideast Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon and the American Theatre Ribbon. On January 16, 1947 in Marcola, Oregon he married Bessie LaVada Bird. In 1963 he moved from Roseburg to Grants Pass. He worked for Jantzer Logging for over forty years.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4116 in Rogue River and was a past member of the Eagles Lodge in Grants Pass.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, making jerky and smoked salmon. He especially loved his teacup poodle “Buddy”.

Survivors include his two daughters, Sharon Nelson of Sacramento, California and Zella Potter of Joshua Tree, California; a brother, Gerald Partch of Springfield, Oregon; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was his wife, LaVada Partch who died May 2, 1997 and a daughter, Carole Buckley who died July 25, 2005.
