Glen was born September 5, 1926 in Boneita Springs, South Dakota, the 2nd of 11 children born to Thomas A. Streight & Elnora DeEll Morrison: Virginia, Glen, Pauline, LaVerne, Gene, Ray, Wayne, Ruby, June, Gordon, and Leslie. Glen always quipped he was born in the “greenhouse” – the Greens were their neighbors. He was raised in “Hungry Hollow” of Spearfish, SD before moving to Oregon City, OR when he was 16.

While in high school, he was drafted into the Army Air Corps August 11, 1944 and trained as a B29 Bomber Mechanic. He was assigned to the 6th Night Fighter Squadron with the Army of Occupation at Atsugi, Japan.

In 1952 he graduated from Cascade College in Portland. While there, he met Charlotte Culver of Pasadena, CA and they were later married August 15, 1952 in a double wedding with Charlotte’s twin sister, Charlene and her husband Waymann. It was quite the social event!

In May 1954 he received his Bachelors of Divinity and in September 1972 his Masters of Divinity from the Western Evangelical Seminary. He became Ordained as a Minister in March 1969 from the United Evangelical Churches.

Glen and Charlotte served as Christian Missionaries in Taiwan (Formosa) from 1955 to 1957 under the Oriental Missionary Society.

After returning from Taiwan, they raised their five children in Covina, CA for 25 years before moving to LaVerne, CA. Glen taught elementary school for 30 years in the West Covina School District. They retired to Grants Pass in 1991 to be nearer Charlotte’s sister and his family.

Glen was a “rock hound” (lapidary) collecting and polishing rocks, and faceting gemstones.

He enjoyed gardening, growing a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and flowers in an ever expanding garden space. He often grew vegetables just to give to the Grants Pass “ROC” Food Pantry, donating 3,111 lbs. of organic vegetables one summer.

Evenings, he enjoyed building jigsaw puzzles and doing word puzzles.

Glen is survived by four children, Sharon Streight Powell (husband Edward Thomas Powell Jr), David Streight, Robin Streight and Mark Streight. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte and his daughter, Starr Streight.
