Gilbert Mundy

Gilbert Mundy, 78, of Grants Pass, died Saturday June 11th, 2011 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 18th, 10:00am at Murphy Chapel, 8561 New Hope Rd. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Mundy was born September 12th, 1932 in Bashaw, Alberta, Canada to Tom and Lizzie Mundy. He worked on the family farm and then graduated from Prairie Bible Institute in Alberta. While there he married Barbara Weber, and they came to Grants Pass as workers with World Missions to Children in 1960. He helped build New Hope Christian School. He milked at a number of local dairies, and then was the dairy supervisor from 1970-1996 for the Dairy Herd Improvement Association. They have four sons, David, Daniel, Phillip, and Paul. Barbara died in 1978 and Gilbert married Patricia Mahannah on December 27th, 1980.

Gilbert was a member of Murphy Chapel until 1970 and then Grants Pass Neighborhood Church. He volunteered at his churches as well as the Gospel Rescue Mission.

He enjoyed gardening, reading, praying, cooking, scrapbooking, family, and extended family.

In addition to his wife and four sons, he is survived by sisters Betty Banker of Duncanville, Tx; Lillian Albreckt of Drumheller, Alberta; Irene Albright of Hanna, Alberta; Grace Hodgson of Arborg, Manitoba; brothers Irvine Mundy of Bashaw, Alberta; George Mundy of Red Deer, Alberta; 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Tom Mundy, William Mundy and John Mundy and one sister, Patricia Craig.
