Gerald Lee Stout, 76 of Grants Pass went to be with his Lord on June 8, 2016. He passed peacefully with his daughter Maureen and grand-daughter Melanie Rose by his side.

As Gerald's time grew near he used every ounce of energy he had to enjoy his passion for life. Laughing with his girlfriend, shooting his 44 Magnum at the Josephine County Sportsman Club and riding his Harley Davidson Sportster. The past memorial weekend was an extra special time as his family gathered and shared a meal at the Galice Resort. The spot where Gerald first laid eyes on his wife Brenda (Moore) Stout.

Gerald was born February 10, 1940 in Grants Pass. He grew up on the Merlin homestead of his mother Vera May Stout with his sister Diana and step-father Everett C. Stout. He joined the Army at age 17 and completed 6 months of basic training in Fort Ord, California. He then joined the Air Force serving 4 years in Fort Dix, New Jersey. Gerald's occupations included River and Fishing Guide and Timber Faller.

Gerald lived in Brookings with his children Mark and Maureen from 1977-1989 where he was a Commercial Fisherman in Harbor, Oregon on his boat the Angela V. After selling the boat he picked mushrooms. During these years he lived and traveled with Nashka attending the 1986 World Expo in Vancouver, British Columbia and visiting Alberta, Canada and Glacier Bay National Park in Montana.

In the 1990's he returned to the Merlin homestead, attending to his mother, gardening and cutting wood with his cousin David. Gerald enjoyed his grandchildren, giving them motorcycle rides and rafting trips. Grandpa passed on his love of deep thinking and thirst for the truth to his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his girlfriend Myra Mercado and sister Diana, brother-in-law Larry Girard and canine niece Ginger all of Merlin. The Stout children, Laurel Ann of Veneta, Everett C. of Grants Pass, Maureen Ann of North Bend, Mark Eric of Elk Grove, CA and Jennifer Lee of Fort Lewis, WA and 11 Grandchildren. Gerald was laid to rest at the Eagle Point National Cemetery. Military Honor Ceremony will take place Friday June 17 at 9 am.
