Georgia Mae Schmoll

Georgia Mae Schmoll was born in Santa Rosa, California on March 15, 1917. The family moved to the San Joaquin Valley in 1922 and she and her only brother, Marvin Besau, finished school in Reedley, Visalia and Porterville. She then married Edward Coker and moved to Los Angeles. A daughter, Patricia Coker Stuart was born there. After ten years she filed for a divorce and subsequently married Elmer (Tug) Schmoll in Los Angeles on November 21, 1947. They met at a dance at the Palladium in Hollywood. Two boys, Kurt and Mark, were born and the family moved to Granada Hills in the San Fernando Valley and spent many happy years there, with good friends and neighbors. She taught at a private school there for six years. They then moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon in 1966 and to Lake Havasu City, Arizona in 1973.

Georgia was one of the first members of the Art Guild, painting in oil and taking an active part in the shows. Her husband was a builder and she painted about 15 murals on the walls of houses he built in Oregon and Arizona. She volunteered for Laubach Literacy Group for several years, teaching English as a second language. She belonged to the Lake Havasu Extension Club, an active local homemaker's group now called the Hummingbirds.

She was a deacon in the church, and during that time and after, called on nursing home residents each week and on the hospital patients on Sundays. She and her husband traveled a great deal, to all the states, to Australia and many places abroad, and they enjoyed it very much. Georgia passed away on her birthday March 15, 2011 at age 94.

She leaves her husband, Elmer; her daughter and son-in-law Pat and James Stuart of Reno, Nevada; her son Kurt of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; her son and daughter-in-law Mark and LaVonne of Myrtle Creek, Oregon; her granddaughter Lynne, who she raised as a daughter, and her husband Charles Brogan of Grants Pass, Oregon; four grandchildren in Reno: Skip, Audrey, Tony and Theresa; and Mark and LaVonne's two children Karen and Kevin, along with several great grandchildren.

Georgia loved life and lots of activities, especially having company and cooking meals for everyone. As long as she was able, she participated in everything. However, she was always interested in seeing what awaits us on the other side. She has promised her bereaved ones to try to be their guardian angel if possible. So we can't mourn her death, just wish her a joyous and interesting journey and plan to see her again.

Jesus said: When I go to prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you with me. When you pass through the waters I will be with you. I will wipe every tear from your eye. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. This I say to you.
