George F. Ekstrom

George F. Ekstrom, age 90, of Rogue River, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center surrounded by family and friends.

A memorial mass will be at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Our Lady of the River Catholic Church in Rogue River. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

George was born May 3, 1921 in Manistique, Michigan, the son of Anna and Frederick Ekstrom. He was the younger of two children. During World War II he served in the United States Navy as a Quarter Master-First Class Petty Officer. After the war he married EileenThivierge and after 48 years of marriage she passed away in 1995. George worked for McDonnell-Douglas as a tool and die maker. He retired to Rogue River in the early 70’s.

George was an active member of Our Lady of the River Catholic Church and was a life time supporting member of the Rogue Valley VFW. He enjoyed his VFW buddies’ company on a daily basis.

He was a jack-of-all-trades, helping repair many things for his friends, and collecting and restoring old cars.

He is survived by five children, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He will be missed by all.
