G. Louise High

June 2, 1928 — August 23, 2021

G. Louise High, 93, of Grants Pass, Oregon died August 23, 2021.

Louise was the daughter of James Porter and Leila Genevieve Langdon. She was born June 2,1928 in Corvallis, Oregon. She attended Oregon State University, graduating with a bachelor degree in home economics, and later earned a master’s degree in education from the University of Oregon. Louise taught school for 17 years, first in Eugene, Oregon and then for a number of years in Oakridge, Oregon.

Louise loved quilting, traveling, cooking and watching baseball. She was an active member for many years of the Coachella Valley Quilt Guild, and over her lifetime quilted hundreds of quilts and wall hangings, many of which won 1st place awards in various competitions. Louise’s travels took her over much of the United States where she visited friends, family, and attended as many major league baseball games as she could, as well as traveling to other countries like Indonesia and Europe. Louise was always looking for new adventures including living on a boat and then in a RV in her retirement before settling down in Indio, CA. She moved to Grants Pass, Oregon in her final years to be closer to family, where she made many new friends within her retirement community.

Louise is survived by a sister Donna Hassel, four children: William (Ardie) Eimstad of Eugene, OR; Joanne (Bill) Storch of Corvallis, OR; Robert (Deborah) Eimstad of Bend, OR; and Nancy (Troy) Maynard of Pleasantville, OH. She is also survived by ten grandchildren - Keith Pearen, Becca Cooper, Ted Eimstad, Chet Eimstad, Hanna Eimstad, Brian Eimstad, Henry Storch, Trevor Storch, Ron Maynard, and Chad Maynard; and many great-grandchildren, and she was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Robinson.

Louise will also be missed by her extended family whom she stayed close with over the years, especially her cousin David Coon and his wife Cherie, who she traveled with in Germany and were there for her whenever she needed them in Grants Pass.

Louise requested donations be made to Braille Institute of America https://brailleinstitute.org/ways-to-give
