Frederick Gale Noah, age 85, of Rogue River, died Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial service with military honors will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Eagle Point National Cemetery with Pastor Mitch Banks officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

He was born August 27, 1924 in Seattle, Washington as one of six children born to Clarence & Ethel (Hill) Noah. He attended Seattle schools before joining the United States Air Corps in 1941. He served as a mechanic at various United States bases throughout the war. It was during that time he earned his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying for many years.

On October 13, 1946 he married Fern Lorraine Douglass, who survives. The couple moved to Seattle, Lemon Grove, California, and Los Angeles before settling on Savage Creek in Rogue River in 1954.

In the 1960s he owned the Chevron station near Depot Street Bridge on Highway 99 in Rogue River until it was flooded in 1964 and he sold the business. He took up long-haul truck driving, then become a local driver for ONC trucking, which eventually was sold to McCracken. After delivering goods throughout the Rogue Valley for more than 20 years, he retired in 1989 at age 65.

He enjoyed reading the Bible, watching television and arguing politics. He also enjoyed attending men’s Christian breakfasts and lunches every week in Grants Pass and Rogue River.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, John; two daughters, Cathy and Susie; two grandchildren, Lindsay and Matt; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
