Fred Boyce

Fred Boyce, age 63, of Williams, died Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

A visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 17, 2008 at Hull & Hull Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow at Gotcher Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Southern Oregon High School Equestrian Teams (SOHSET), PO Box 99, Eagle Point, Oregon 97524 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Attn: Memorial/Honor Program PH, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1905.

Fred was born March 25, 1944 in Grants Pass. While living in Grants Pass attended Riverside, Redwood School, and later Jerome Prairie School where he completed 8th grade. At the age of ten, he moved with his family to Williams. He then moved with his family to Mandeville, Louisiana where he attended high school. From 1962 to 1965 he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Texas and Greenland. On September 3, 1966 in New Orleans, Louisiana he married Pat Klein. He worked as a mechanic repairman on oil field equipment offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. In May 1984 they returned to Williams.

He was a member of Josephine County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse, Brush Riders Horse Club, and various Cutting Horse clubs. He volunteered with the high school equestrian teams, especially cattle events.

He loved spending time with his family and friends. His hobbies included cutting events, gymkhana events, fishing, hunting, and rebuilding his 1949 Chevy pick up.

In addition to his wife, Pat Boyce of Williams, survivors include a son, Freddy Boyce of Williams; two daughters, Patrice Lane of Williams and Tina Dubbs of Emmet, Arkansas; two brothers, Dick Boyce of Dardanelle, Arkansas and Bob Boyce of Winthrop, Washington; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Maryann Boyce in 1954.
