Frank E. "Palani" Boyd

Frank E. “Palani” Boyd, age 67, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, December 15, 2013 at his home.

No services are planned. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

He was born June 10, 1946 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Frank & Mary Boyd. He was a retired machinist from the auto industry in Michigan. In September 2013 he moved from Kailua, Hawaii to Grants Pass.

An avid surfer, he also enjoyed woodworking and boat building. His claim to fame was being on the cover of surfer magazine.

Survivors include his wife, Julie Boyd of Romeo, Michigan; a son, Joseph Aarin Boyd of Imlay City, Michigan; two sisters, Laura Openshaw and husband Scott of Tonopah, Arizona and Diane Boyd of Morrisville, North Carolina; a brother, Bruce Boyd of Naalehu, Hawaii; and his best friends, Johnny Day and Dean Witt.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
