Faith Sharon "Shari" Daniel

Faith Sharon Daniel (“Shari“), age 82, died Friday, April 9, 2010 at Highland House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center

A memorial service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Hull & Hull Chapel. Hull & Hull Funeral directors are in charge of arrangements.

Shari was born February 13, 1928 in Los Angeles, California. Shari moved with her family to Grants Pass in 1944 after her father retired. She graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1945. In 1946, while at a dance at Shan Creek Grange, she fell head over heels for Hugh, the tall, thin Texan playing a guitar and singing with the band. She chased him down and married Hubert Willis Daniel on December 20, 1946. Shari and Hugh spent time playing at many grange dances around Grants Pass, with Shari on the piano and Hugh playing guitar.

Shari and Hugh moved to the San Fernando Valley, California, in 1953. Shari began a career of raising four children and working full time as a buyer for The Sloan Company. She and Hugh continued to play music on Friday and Saturday nights at local lounges. When Hugh retired in the 1970s they moved back to Grants Pass.

Shari worked for the Josephine County Veterans’ Office. She and Hugh were heavily involved in the local V.F.W. Shari loved to cook and can vegetables, play music, and spend time with her family. They were longtime members of Calvary Lutheran Church. Hugh, Shari’s husband of 55 years, died in 2002.

They had four children. Dave Daniel of Grants Pass, Sharlyn Goss of Auburn, California, Rebecca Burke of Springfield, Virginia, and Joseph Daniel of Canyon Country, California. Shari has 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
