Esther Bailey

Esther Violettie Bailey, age 82, of Rogue River, died Monday, March 29, 2010 at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Woodville Cemetery in Rogue River, Oregon. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Esther was born October 13, 1927 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to George & Erma Smith. In 1936 she moved with her family to San Diego, California where she lived for 23 years. In 1959 she married Gary Bailey and moved to Rogue River, Oregon where she lived for 50 years. She raised seven children and cared for her grandchildren. During the 1970s she worked at the “Little Yellow School House” on Rogue River Highway and Novel Crafts in Rogue River.

Esther enjoyed collecting bird figurines and plates and also other various collectibles. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, trips to Reno and most of all, loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include five children, Cheryl Rohrbough of Albany, Oregon, Wayne Bailey of Redmond, Oregon, GariLynn Tocher of Madras, Oregon, Cindy Burns of Grants Pass, Oregon, and Karen Evans of Fredricksburg, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Mitchell Allen Bailey in 1984 and Michael Harry Bailey in 2001.
