Ernie Mcdonald

October 7, 1932 — April 4, 2016

On April 4, 2016, Ernie McDonald vacated his temporary home, (his tent) and went to his permanent home, (not made with hands, eternal in the heavens) to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and all his previously departed loved ones.

Ernie was born on October 7, 1932 in Everett, Washington. He was born again February 3, 1957. Thru faith alone in Christ alone.

Ernie lived most of his child hood years in the Everett area, growing up in the area known as Emander, being raised by his grandparents, Clifford and Mabel Hilton, up until his enlistment in the U.S. Navy on July 5, 1951. During his years in Emander he was known as “Mike.” During his 4 years in the Navy (1951-1955) Ernie served on board the U.S.S. Aircraft carrier (C.V.A. 12) where he tended the Douglas Skyraiders & pilots.

In 1955, he and his sweetheart, Donalee Davies were married. They continued in blessed harmony, as husband & wife, and partners in life, serving Christ. Ernie and Donalee had six children, Lyndee, Michael, Donalee, Ernest III, Roxanne, Virginia, many grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
Ernie worked for the Boeing Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1988. During these years Ernie served as a volunteer firefighter with King County Fire Protection District # 37 while living in Kent Washington
After moving to Grants Pass, in 1996, Ernie answered the call of God to pastor a small rural church north east of Sams Valley, called Meadows Chapel.

In his recent years while living in Grants Pass, he and his wife sang with the Pacemakers Senior Choir.

In looking at his life, Ernie would often say “On my very best day, I am nothing more than a poor lost sinner, saved by the grace of God thru faith in Jesus Christ.”

A celebration of life will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Hugo Community Baptist Church with Pastor Dan Garland officiating. Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
