Erma Catherine (Rhoads) Snyder

Erma Catherine (Rhoads) Snyder passed away on April 10, 2011 in Grants Pass,
Oregon. She was 81 years old.

She was born on November 27, 1929 in Antlers, Oklahoma, the daughter of Luther
Murray Rhoads and Carrie Catherine (Cheevers) Rhoads. Mrs. Snyder was theyoungest of seven children. She married Reginald Edward “Buck” Snyder onOctober 30, 1948.

She reared her family in San Jose, California, then made her home with Buck in Grants Pass, Oregon since 1984. She loved the natural beauty and treasured the wildlife in the area especially the deer, squirrels, and wild turkeys that often visited her backyard. Her career focused in the retail area with positions at Mervyn’s, Montgomery Ward, and K-Mart.

Passionate about her shared interests with Buck, she enjoyed archery, golf, camping and music. She learned to play guitar, loved to sing and listen to the talented musicians in their circle of friends. She and Buck loved exploring the back roads of California and Oregon on their motorcycle. She was a wonderful impromptu hostess and enjoyed entertaining friends whenever they dropped by. At the center of her life were her beloved pets Allie, Dixie, and Ginger.

Erma is survived by her daughters, Catherine Anna Boyce of Portola Valley,California; and Geneva Louise Britt, of Grants Pass, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, William Norman Snyder. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Sarah Catherine Nelson and Matthew Evan Boyce.

A celebration of Erma’s life will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 14th at the Wilderville Community Church, Wilderville.
