He was born December 8, 1940 in Waynesboro, Mississippi to Elwood & Edna Bornicke. The family moved to Southern California where he was raised. After high school, he began working for MGM Studios in Culver City. While there he acquired the nickname “Woody” and has been known to friends as Woody ever since. On New Year’s Day 1964 he met Cheryl Hennies and they were married that September in Inglewood. Together, they raised two daughters in Woodland Hills and when the MGM lab closed in 1988, Woody retired. In 1991 he and his wife moved from Woodland Hills to Grants Pass and brought with them a phone painting business. They also owned and operated two storage unit businesses making retirement a busy time for Woody.

Woody loved old cars and beautifully restored a 1959 Chevy and a 1923 Ford, among others. He also enjoyed traveling, scuba diving, repairing almost anything, and playing “free cell” on the computer.

In addition to his wife, Cheryl Bornicke of Grants Pass; he is survived by two daughters, Laura Bornicke of Grants Pass and Lisa Evans of Cozumel, Mexico; a sister, Cathy Pancake of Mojave Valley, Arizona; a brother, John Bornicke of Grants Pass; and two grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pat.

He was loved by many and will be badly missed by all who knew him!
