Elvis LaVerne Schultz, age 93, of Rogue River, died Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at an adult foster home.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Foots Creek Chapel with Pastor Mike Moore officiating. Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Elvis was born July 24, 1916 in Riverside, California to Edith & Benjamin Schultz. He spent his youth in Ontario, California where he graduated from Chaffee High School and attended Chaffee College. During this time, he won many awards for his garden produce at the California State Fair in Pomona. On May 31, 1942 in Rogue River he married Edna Breeding, who survives. During World War II he served in the United States Army as a ward master in the medics. He lived in Ontario, California for some time before returning to Rogue River in 1956 where he raised his family. He retired from Cascade Wood Products where he worked for many years.
Elvis was a member of Foots Creek Chapel.
He loved beachcombing for driftwood, driftwood art, and gardening.
In addition to his wife, Edna M. Schultz of Rogue River; four children, Nelda R. Lefler of Las Vegas, Nevada, Delbert L. Schultz of Rogue River, Arthur L. Schultz of Vancouver, Washington, and Cheryl L. Sealy of Grants Pass; a brother, David Schultz of West Covina, California; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Barns and his parents.
