Elva Alliene Miller

Elva Alliene Miller, age 82, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, January 1, 2009 at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 16, 2009 at Grants Pass Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Marvin Clark officiating. Committal services will follow at 12 noon at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Elva was born July 6, 1926 in Ramsey, Indiana to Charles & Leona (Conrad) Pinaire. She was raised in Ramsey on her family’s farm and graduated from Corydon High School. In 1946 Elva married and had three daughters. In 1959 the family moved to Southern California and settled in the San Fernando Valley and later in Simi Valley. Elva worked at Pierce College in the Records Department from 1971 to 1989. While employed at Pierce, she attended classes and received her Associate of Arts Degree at age 60, a proud moment in her life. Following her retirement, she settled in Grants Pass, Oregon.

Elva was active in the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Grants Pass.

She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, and her family.

Survivors include three daughters, Leona Sue Crisp and her husband George of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, Alyce Lou Hunter and her husband William of Los Banos, California, and Jamie Ann Moore and her husband Jerry of Rogers, Arkansas; grandchildren, Andrew Stough, Matthew Stough, Kimberly Hunter, Michael Hunter and Joyce Ann Kelly; a great-granddaughter, Kayla Alonzo; and a sister, Esther.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.
