Eileen Rothwell

July 10, 1928 — April 4, 2018

Ann (Eileen) Rothwell passed away, peacefully and surrounded by family, on April 4, 2018 at Providence Medford Medical Center. She was 89 years old.

She was born in Anacortes, Washington on July 10, 1928 to Bernie and Inger Larson. She was number seven of nine brothers and sisters. She was raised on the family farm during the Great Depression. The family always had plenty of food and love to go around. She met her future husband Bill at a dance in Tacoma, Washington. She was a beauty queen; Bill was a dashing young Air Force Lieutenant and pilot. They married in 1949 and moved around the west at different locations during his Air Force career. In 1964 the family moved to Grants Pass, where she lived until after Bill passed away in 1996.

Eileen worked as a volunteer and later as an employee at the Josephine County Library. In 1998 she moved to Ashland, where she lived for nineteen years. She was active at the YMCA. Well into her eighties she could be found there working up a sweat several days a week. She loved to dance, spend time with friends, travel the world, and attend plays and concerts. She never missed her daily glass of red wine (nothing fancy). She was an ace at solving crossword puzzles.

At the end of her life her sole passion was her family. She is survived by son Bill, Jr. (Claudette) of Layton, Utah; daughter Betsy (Bill) Young of Medford; and son Tom of Sacramento, California. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents, and several siblings. She loved her family with all her heart and soul, right up until the very end.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Farmington Square in Medford. Their careful attention to her health and well being was compassionate and exemplary, well beyond our expectations. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 19th, 3 pm, at Hull and Hull Funeral Home in Grants Pass. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to her favorite charity, National Alliance on Mental Illness, P.O. Box 62596, Baltimore, MD 21264-2596.
