Edwin Paul Lamoreau

Edwin Paul Lamoreau, age 90, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday morning, May 23, 2012 at his home.

Ed was born in Presque Isle, Maine, to Hobson and Avis Lamoreau on May 5, 1922. He had one sister, Jeanette Lamoreau Ela. He graduated from of Aroostook State Normal School, a facility for training teachers, in Presque Isle before moving to California. He obtained his Masters Degree from the University of Pacific in Stockton, California.

He married Blanche Brume, also a teacher from Maine, and embarked on a life long career as an educator in San Joaquin County, California. They had three children, Joan, John and Edwin Jr. Blanche preceded Ed in death.

Edwin married Linda Kreiss on January 10, 1976. They relocated to Grants Pass, Oregon in 1987. They have one son Paul. Both Ed and Linda were extremely active in volunteer activities, including Boy Scouts, Church Groups, and Youth Outreach Programs in the Grants Pass area.

Ed is best remembered for his loving kindness that defined his life. He was an avid tennis player and golfer (two holes-in-one) who played regularly into his eighties. Hobbies included collecting Sports Memorabilia, model cars and trains, and over 400 tennis racquets. He volunteered in many ways including tutoring students, Boy Scouts, at church and teaching tennis to local youth. He received numerous awards during his life not only for his excellence in education but also for his outreach to others. He was awarded KTVL TV's Fred Meyer's Oregon Spirit Award in 1991 for his community outreach.

Survivors include his loving wife Linda Lamoreau and son Paul Lamoreau of Eugene, Oregon, along with daughter Joan Lamoreau of California, sons John Lamoreau of La Grande, Oregon, and Edwin Lamoreau of Dundee, Oregon. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held July 21st, 2012 at 1:00pm at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 305 Southwest H Street, Grants Pass. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
