Edward Vernon Cox Jr

July 28, 1948 — November 4, 2009

Edward Vernon Cox Jr., age 61, of Eagle Point, died Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at his home.

A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Parkway Christian Center Fellowship Hall with Pastor Dennis Webber officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

He was born July 28, 1948 in Pendleton, Oregon to Edward & Hannah Cox. He grew up in Rogue River. During the Vietnam War, he served in the United States Navy and built roads there. He later logged in Alaska and was a Medford city worker. In 1994 he moved from White City to Eagle Point.

He played pool for JD’s Jackles in Grants Pass.

He loved to fish, ski, camp, gamble, play pool, and spend time with friends. He loved to visit Las Vegas and take their money. Keno, craps, and roulette were his favorite games.

Ed had a big heart, was very kind, and liked meeting new friends. He was a loving husband, father, and a really good friend to everyone he met. His love for Star Trek was very obvious as he carried a “communicator” button on his hat everywhere he went.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Williams of Eagle Point; two sons, Scott Cox and Shawn Cox; two stepsons, Michael Williams and David Williams; a brother, Dale Cox; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Steven; a son, Jason; and a granddaughter, Jessica.
