Edith Mildred “Ede” Johnson, 86, of Grants Pass died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 21, 2007 at Hull & Hull Chapel with a reception immediately following to celebrate her life. Interment will be Monday, January 22, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Ede was born in Oakland, Ca. on February 8, 1920 to Giovanni and Carmella Rossi. She was the youngest of their four children and the only one born in the United States. Ede married James Johnson in 1950. After spending the first half of her life in Oakland, she and Jim moved to Grants Pass, Oregon, in 1962. Ede enjoyed being a homemaker, devoting her life to her family. She loved her garden and loved to can and preserve her produce. She was affectionately known as “Nonni” to all who knew her, as she was an honorary grandmother to many. She loved reading, rides to the coast, listening to music and talk radio, and her many friends.

Her husband, James, preceded in her in death. She is survived by her son, Jerry O’Connell and his wife, Jeannie, of Belmont, California; her son, Dennis, and his wife, Marsha, of Grants Pass; her daughter, Janice, and her husband, John Morrison, of Grants Pass. She also leaves 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, 2 nephews, and numerous grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to charity of choice.
