Dotty C. Grajeda, age 86, of Grants Pass, died Friday, November 8, 2013 at her home.

A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Hugo Community Church, 6501 Hugo Road, Hugo Oregon. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hubert Garland Fund, c/o Hugo Community Church, PO Box 688, Merlin OR 97532-0688.

Dotty was born August 19, 1927 in New York, New York to James Paul & Marie Rita McGovern. She attended school in New York and worked as a telephone operator. At age 17, she married John Sarnataro. They raised their family in North Hollywood, California. While the children were young she was a homemaker; then she worked for an answering service; at Delux Check Printers in Chattsworth, California; and later started her own dog grooming, training and boarding business in Sylmar, California. In 1984 she retired and moved to Grants Pass, Oregon where they built their dream home before her husband died in 1986. In 1987 she married Steve R. Grajeda who died in March of 2010.

She was a member of the Hugo Community Church, RASCALS Computer Club, and volunteered with the American Red Cross.

Dotty’s hobbies included baking, and she was very active in dog clubs in California, especially with Shetland Sheep dogs, also known as Sheltie’s. She was heavy duty into ham radio and was a member of the Western Belles Ham Radio Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Laura Shaffer of Grants Pass, Oregon and Beverly Irwin of La Pine, Oregon; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was an infant son, John Wayne Sarnataro.

She will be greatly missed.
