Dorothy Philis Nicholson

Dorothy Philis Nicholson, age 68, of Grants Pass, died Friday, January 8, 2010 at Ashley Manor.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Jerome Prairie Bible Church with Pastor James Downing officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy was born July 19, 1941 in Grants Pass to Albert & Isabel Heap. She was raised in Southern Oregon and graduated from Grants Pass High School. In 1959 she married Robert Nicholson and raised three children while attending nursing school. She then worked as a registered nurse in the intensive care unit at Southern Oregon Medical Center for 25 years.

Dorothy was a very loving and giving person to everyone she met.

She was a member of Jerome Prairie bible Church where she volunteered with Good News Club for children and Christmas shoe boxes for the less fortunate.

She enjoyed traveling with her husband. She especially cherished her extended family.

In addition to her husband, Robert Nicholson; she is survived by her mother, Issy Heap; a sister, Betty Duckworth; two daughters, Kathy Graham and Kim Marquez; a son, Gary Nicholson; three grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; two sons-in-law; and one daughter-in-law.
