Dorothy Mascherini

Dorothy “Dottie Ray” Mascherini, passed away December 5, 2018 at her daughter and son-in-law’s home in Grants Pass.

Born November 18, 1936 New Mexico, she was the oldest of nine children. Her family traveled to many different states during her childhood finally settling in Grants Pass, Oregon. She raised her children in Grants Pass with then husband Loren Ray. She volunteered at Fort Vannoy and Fleming Schools as well as being a Girl Scout and Brownie Leader for her daughter and helping with Cub Scouts and the Pinewood Derby with her husband and sons. She spent most of her working career in the medical field at Southern Oregon and Josephine Memorial Hospitals in Grants Pass.

When her children were grown, she moved to the California wine country and lived in Healdsburg where she retired from Healdsburg Hospital’s Emergency Room. After retirement, she split her time between Grants Pass and Eastsound, Washington. She was part of the Red Hats in Eastsound.

She is survived by four children Teresa (Russ) Oden of Grants Pass, Ernie Ray of Springfield, Oregon, David (Mimi) Ray of Eastsound, and Tom (Linda) Winford of Bristow, Oklahoma; dear friend Loren Ray of Eastsound; six grandchildren Chris, Robyn, Don, Kevin, Courtney and Deedra; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and siblings Robert, Virginia, Pat, Ollie and Wanda and their families.

She is preceded in death by her son Edward Ray, grandson Loren Ray; her husband Robert Mascherini; and siblings Robin, Carl and Shirley.

Special Thanks to Providence Hospice and many friends who prayed for her daily.

The family will have a memorial service at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Grants Pass in Spring 2019.
