Dorothy Marie Wheat, age 99, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at The Suites.

A viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday, February 14, 2011 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Pastor Wes Winn officiating. Interment will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.

Dorothy was born May 2, 1911 in Genoa, Nebraska to Curtis & Clara Kahl. In 1942 she moved from Nebraska to Grants Pass. On September 14, 1951 in Reno, Nevada she married Charles Wheat. She was a waitress and owned and operated a restaurant. She also owned and operated a pie making business that supplied pies to Josephine General Hospital and Sirloins Steak House.

Dorothy was a member of First Christian Church for many years.

Her hobbies included fishing, camping, crocheting, and playing cards and dominos.

Survivors include two sons, Jack Yosten of Grants Pass, Oregon and Jerry Yosten of Sutherlin, Oregon; two daughters, Betty Thompson of Medford, Oregon and Vera Thompson of Grants Pass, Oregon; a sister, Louise Sparlin of Grants Pass, Oregon; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 31 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wheat in January 1991 and a daughter, Joann Hyde in 1995.
