Dorothy Jean Newman was born in Seattle Washington on September 19th 1925 to Edith and Albert Wilson. She had one sister who was also her best friend but who sadly passed away as a young adult. Dorothy often spoke dearly of her memories of growing up in Seattle and spending her summers at her aunt and uncle's Farm on Waldron Island, a place that even as dementia took hold in her final years she never forgot.
After World War II she married Jack Long, they moved to California and had two children Jeffrey Long and Kristine Long / Quicker.
Several years later after separating from her first husband, she met and married Hugh Lane Newman who preceded her in death in 2003; but not before getting to share many years exploring their passion for traveling and golf.
Dorothy was a longtime member of the Merlin Rogue Red Hat Society as well as a member of the colonial Valley Women's Club.
She leaves behind her two children, Jeff and Kristine; her two grandchildren, Sierra and Michael; and three great-grandchildren, Isabella, Hannah and Austin; as well as several extended family members.
She was an inspiring woman, loved by everyone who knew her and will be missed dearly.
There will be a small service held in her memory on February 16th from 10 to 12 at Oak Lane Assisted Living Center.
