Dorothy was born October 21, 1923 in Owensboro, Kentucky to Omer & Dorothy Blanford. She met her husband, “Barney” at a U.S.O. dance in Kentucky while he was serving in the United States Army. On April 14, 1946 in Owensboro she married Byron Eugene “Barney” Gray in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The day after their wedding, they traveled to the Applegate Valley. From 1958 to 1971 they owned and operated the Pine Springs Service Station & Grocery Store in Murphy on Williams Highway. In 1971 they bought a house on Rogue River Highway and Dorothy helped Barney with his tractor service until his death in 1998. Then she moved from Grants Pass to the Roseburg area in 1999.

She enjoyed helping and volunteering with her grandchildren’s Brownie Troup and helped with parades, camping and yard sales. She loved children and over the years she helped needy families with food and provided safe shelter for many children and teens. Dorothy also helped with the Jerry Lewis Telethon fundraiser and made over $700 in a home carnival which was then presented at a Medford T.V. Station

Dorothy was a member of Provolt Community Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Kelley of Salem, Oregon and Judy Hyatt of Winston, Oregon and a son Michael Gray of Grants Pass; 10 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
