Doris Lee Goodrich King

Doris L. King, previously of Grants Pass, OR, passed away at the age of 82 on Sept. 5, 2011 at Roxy Ann Memory Community in Medford, OR. Born to Louis & Clio Goodrich on Jan. 12, 1929 and raised in Fresno County, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many who will miss her. She is preceded in death by her husband Dennis Owen King. Doris is survived by her children: Richard King of Grants Pass, OR, Judith Lawrie of Sacramento, CA, Dolores White of Sacramento, CA, Dorothy Mazzanti of Redwood Valley, CA, David King of Grants Pass, OR, and Duane King of Salinas, CA; her sister Joy McLaughlin of Medford, OR and brother Tim Goodrich of Murphy, OR; 24 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Doris was truly a wonderful homemaker who sewed school clothing and matching Easter outfits for her children over the years. She took in alterations to earn extra money for her family and spent many long hours sitting poolside while her children became fine swimmers. She was a fan of football and also enjoyed a good game of pinochle. She had a beautiful voice and loved to harmonize. Doris particularly enjoyed her many dogs and birds and passed her love of nature and animals to her children. A ‘Seamstress Extraordinaire’ who collected antique fabrics and lace to dress dolls. Her name is well known to Antique Doll collectors and in the world of Teddy Bear collectors.

We are deeply grateful to her loving daughter-in-law Margaret King and the staff of Roxy Ann Memory Community who offered patient and loving care during her declining years.
