Doris L. Black, age 72, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, October 31, 2009 at her home.

A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Faith Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Burman officiating. A celebration of her life will immediately follow at the Grants Pass Merlin Moose Lodge. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Doris was born September 30, 1937 in Bath, Maine the daughter of Estella & Seth Doughty. She graduated from Morse High School in Bath. She moved to California and worked at United Airlines where she met and married her husband of 53 years, Warren Black. She lived and worked in Los Gatos, California where she was a medical transcriptionist at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Doris enjoyed golfing, her animals, traveling around the world, scrapbooking, and needlework. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending many hours with her children, grandchildren, and most recently her great-grandchild.

She attended Faith Baptist Church and was a member of the Elks, Eagles, and Moose Lodge. She was passionate about the Moose Association and held the following offices – academy of friendship, past regent, college of regents degree, and was currently recorder for the Grants Pass Merlin Moose Lodge.

In addition to her husband, Warren Black of Grants Pass; she is survived by two daughters, Julie Lalumondier and Cynthia Perkins both of Grants Pass; three sisters, Julia Raven of Freedom, Maine, Ruth Peyregne of Mobile, Alabama, and Rose Barter of Fairfield, California; a brother, Teedie Doughty of Buxton, Maine; four grandchildren, Michelle Ablott, Evan Perkins, Emily Perkins, and Molly Perkins; and one great-grandchild, Hailey Rose Ablott.
