Doreen Marion Pontius

Doreen M. Pontius, age 88, of Medford, died May 10, 2019 in Grants Pass.

Doreen was born June 4, 1930 in Edgware, England. In the years following World War II she met and married U.S. Airman Chuck Pontius and immigrated to Detroit, Michigan where her oldest child, David was born. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Southern California where her second child, Richard was born

Doreen was an entrepreneur who thrived in the business world. She was a credit and office manager before moving into real estate. Later she and David owned a Sears catalog store followed by opening a fabric store. After retiring she moved to Vancouver Island and eventually Southern Oregon. Doreen lived in Grants Pass for over 20 years before moving to Medford in 2016.

Her memberships included the American Sewing Guild and the Eagles Lodge.

Doreen especially enjoyed knitting, sewing and gardening

Survivors include two children David Pontius and his wife Robin of College Park, Washington and Richard Pontius and his wife Mary Ellen of Yorba Linda, California; a brother David Davis and his wife Pauline of Bakersfield, California; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
