Dora Evelyn Lunde

Dora Evelyn Lunde, 95, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, January 5, 2008 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at Calvary Lutheran Church with Pastor Janelle Aldrich-Dale officiating. A reception will follow the service. Private interment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens, where she will be laid to rest with her husband. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Dora was born in a farmhouse somewhere near Twin Valley, Minnesota on February 20, 1912. She attended rural schools in that area. On March 3, 1944 in Pendleton, Oregon, she married Odd C. Lunde, who preceded her in death. Dora was a homemaker by heart, but was employed at J.C. Penny’s here in Grants Pass where she retired after 17 years.

She was a member of the Scandanavian Club, the Vitality Center/Grants Pass Community Center, Calvary Lutheran Church as a greeter and helping with the Christmas Bazaars.

She enjoyed baking, cooking and reading, but Dora’s true love was in the kitchen, making many of her favorite recipes from her Scandanavian heritage.

Survivors include her sister-in-law Ida Flaaten and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her four brothers, Bert, Harold, Orville and Julian and five sisters, Lilly, Bernice, Norma, Beatrice and Florence.
