Donald William Ash

Donald William Ash, age 90, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

A recitation of the rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 3, 2007 at St. Anne Catholic Church.

A funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 4, 2007 at St. Anne Catholic Church with Father Gregory Moys officiating. Southern Oregon Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

Donald was born July 16, 1916 in Lake City, Iowa to Arthur & Mary Ash. In 1934 he graduated from Santa Monica High School and later served in the United States Army Air Corps. He worked as an Aerospace Painter Technician for 35 years until his retirement in 1981. In 1988 he moved from Los Angeles to Grants Pass.

He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, a 3rd and 4th degree life member of Knights of Columbus, and a life member of Dirt Diggers Motorcycle Club. He volunteered as a Little League senior league umpire for 20 years in Los Angeles and delivered for Meals on Wheels for ten years.

His hobbies included motorcycle riding, tinkering in his garage, fishing, traveling to visit family, horseracing, golfing and bowling.

Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Henry and Barbara Brown both of Grants Pass, and Maureen Oudin of Catalina Island, California; three sons, Terry Ash of Taylorsville, Utah, James Ash of Milton, Washington, and Kevin Ash of Tacoma, Washington; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Geraldine Ann Ash in 1947; his first wife and mother of his children, Mary G. Ash in 1968; and his second wife, Ruby T. Ash in 1988.
