Donald P. Beebe, age 78, of Grants Pass, passed away at home on December 22, 2013.

Private family services will be held. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Food and Friends, PO Box 3275, Central Point, Oregon 97502.

Donald was born to the late Victor and Winona Beebe on October 4, 1935 in San Rafael, California. He graduated from Grant Union High School in Sacramento and received AA degrees in business and aircraft maintenance from Sacramento City College. He served his country from 1956 to 1959 with the US Army Combat Engineering Division and then worked for the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier for 34 years. In 1959 Don married Elinor J. Bliven in Oxford, New York. They lived in California before moving to Grants Pass in 2007.

He was a long time member of National Active and Retired Federal Employees.

Don volunteered with the Sacramento Senior Gleaners, the Placer County Sheriff Department and Food and Friends in Grants Pass.

Don was an avid camper and water skier, teaching more than 50 youths to ski. He enjoyed flying his Mooney MK21 as a licensed private pilot. Woodworking was a favorite hobby. He loved cooking steak dinners, watching San Francisco 49ers and World War II movies, and playing with his dogs.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three daughters, Elaine E. Nelson MD and her husband Todd of Los Altos, California, Joann M. Lawton RN and her husband Donald of Oxford, New York and Sharon L. Smith PAC of Monroe, Connecticut; brothers, Edwin Beebe of Cocoa Beach, Florida and Michael Beebe of Clearlake, California and ten grandchildren.

A son-in-law, Mikul Smith died before him in 2012.
