Donald Lee Conroy, age 72, of Merlin, died Sunday, December 5, 2010 at his home.

A graveside memorial will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 7, 2011 at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Donald was born September 2, 1938 in Klamath Falls, Oregon to Leland & Marion Conroy. He was raised in both Klamath Falls and Lakeview and in 1950 moved with his family to Ukiah, California where he graduated from high school in 1956. He served in the United States Navy and volunteered for submarine service. After his discharge in 1962, he attended the University of San Francisco where he studied accounting. For ten years he worked for Southern Pacific Railroad in their general office. He later owned and operated his own automobile and furniture upholstery business for several years. He then worked as a salesman for a company that sold automobile upholstery and during those years drove over 700,000 miles until his retirement in 1993. In 1995 in Ukiah he married the former Ruth Dunsing. In 2001 he moved from Ukiah to Merlin.

His many memberships included B.P.O.Elks #1584; Josephine County Sportsmen’s Association and their trap and skeet club; National Rifle Association; State of Jefferson Vigilance Committee; life member of Skeet Shooter Association; and charter member of Merlin Marauders.

His hobbies included skeet shooting, pheasant hunting; cowboy action shooting; and golfing.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Conroy of Merlin, Oregon; a daughter, Donnis Williams of Hopland, California; a son, Kenneth Conroy of Pollock Pines, California; a sister, Judy Pinkerton of Ukiah, California; and three grandchildren.
