Donald L. Bellum Sr

Donald L. Bellum Sr., age 77, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center.

Don was born September 26, 1943, in Scotia, California, to Joe & Marie Bellum. He graduated from Fortuna High School in 1962. After high school, he went to work for Pacific Lumber in Scotia, California, as a machinist. In 1964 he joined the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. He served active duty, in the Army from October 1964 to October 1966. He was on standby reserve from October 1966 to October 1970. On April 16, 1966, in Phenix City, Alabama, Don married Brenda Lane, who preceded him in death. In 1966, he moved his family to Glendale, Oregon from Columbus, Georgia. In 1969 they moved to Grants Pass to accept a position at the local natural gas company, CP National where Don worked until his retirement from Avista in 2012.

Don’s memberships included Grants Pass Elks Club, Josephine County Sportsman Association, IBEW, Oregon Hunters Association, Josephine County Search & Rescue and STRAIGHT-A-WAYS Car Club.

Don especially enjoyed hunting, shooting pool, karaoke, being outdoors, riding his motorcycle, and meeting up with his numerous friends for breakfast or coffee. He especially loved spending time with his family, grandkids, and great-grandkids.

Don is survived by three children Rick Bellum and wife Tracy of Grants Pass, Donnie Bellum and wife Patty of Grants Pass and Amanda Bellum of Mobile, Alabama; sisters Leona Bishop of Rio Dell, California and Bernie Miranda of Union, Oregon; four grandchildren Jared Bellum and wife Caitlin, Ashley DeLaGrange and husband Michael, Dalenna Bellum and Braeden Bellum; and four great-grandchildren Gavin DeLaGrange, Emma DeLaGrange, Henry Bellum and Jane Bellum.

He was preceded in death by his wife Brenda; father Joe Bellum in 1950; mother Marie Bellum; stepfather Tony Machado; brother Bob Bellum; and granddaughter Nicole Marie.

An open house gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors. Military funeral honors presentation will be at 12:30 p.m. There will be a private inurnment at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
