Donald Edward Estes

Donald Edward Estes, age 69, of Rogue River, died Friday, December 21, 2012 at his home.

A memorial graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2013 at Eagle Point National Cemetery with Chaplain Patt Herdklotz officiating. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Don was born February 20, 1943 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to Donald & Juanita Estes. He graduated from Grants Pass High School. From 1961 to 1965 he served in the United States Air Force. In 1986 in Reno, Nevada he married Eileen Akins. In 1993 he moved from Medford to Rogue River.

Don volunteered as the cemetery sexton at Woodville Cemetery for the past 12 years.

His hobbies included outdoor recreation, camping, and rafting.

In addition to his wife, Eileen Estes of Rogue River, Oregon; he is survived by a daughter, Dana Woehrle of Medford, Oregon; a son, Jeff Estes of Grants Pass, Oregon; two stepchildren, Shannon Kirkpatrick of Medford, Oregon and James W. Akins of Central Point, Oregon; two sisters, Elaine Sylvia of Cave Junction, Oregon and Diane Thomas of Grants Pass, Oregon; a brother, Douglas Estes of Grants Pass, Oregon; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
