Dolores V. Hopping
Former Grants Pass resident Dolores V. (Thomas) Hopping, 79, of Gold Hill died Monday, March 8, 2010, at her home.Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Hull & Hull's chapel. Burial will be at Granite Hill Cemetery. She was born Feb. 20, 1931, in Toledo, Ohio, to Russel C. and Francis M. (Jackson) Cole. In 1948, along with her mother and two sisters, she moved to Grand Rapids, Ohio, where she was a telephone operator. On Jan. 31, 1949, in Angola, Ind., she married Charles E. Thomas, who died before her. They were married for 43 years. In 1956, they moved to the Applegate Valley. She was a homemaker until 1963, when she moved to Grants Pass, where she was employed at Riverside Restaurant, Oregon Technical Products and Diamond Industries.In 2001, she married Raymond Hopping, who survives.She was a member of the Eagles Lodge and she enjoyed flower gardening, dancing, crocheting and collecting antiques.In addition to her husband, survivors include six children, James Thomas of McKee Bridge, Dolores 'Dolly' Barry of Hugo, Charles 'Buck' Thomas of Gold Hill, Roger Thomas of Medford, Diane Padgett of Canyonville, and Lloyd 'George' Thomas of Grants Pass; two sisters, Suzie McKnight of South Carolina, and Florence Huff of Ohio; 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
