David L. Wells

David L. Wells, 70, of Grants Pass died suddenly at home on January 12, 2013.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 19 at 3:00 p.m. at Hull and Hull Funeral Directors in Grants Pass. A gathering of family and friends with light refreshments will immediately follow at the funeral home.
David was born October 23, 1942, in Salem to Clifford Floyd and Olive Marietta Stevens Wells, and was raised on their farm in Buena Vista. He graduated from Central High School in Independence, where he excelled in art, and he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from the Oregon College of Education (now Western Oregon University) in Monmouth.
He was a lifelong educator and was the principal of Wolf Creek Elementary School in Wolf Creek from 1975 to 1995 before he retired from the Three Rivers School District. In the community, he was an active member of the Oregon State Elks Club and had served as Exalted Ruler of Grants Pass Lodge 1584 from 1975 to 1976.
In his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, experimenting with the latest technology, and scrupulously remembering the birthdays and anniversaries of his family and friends.
Survivors include a sister, Barbara Wells Gunn, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; nieces Katie Bryan of Phillips, Wisconsin and Sally Goade of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; nephews Stan Urban of Mill Valley, California; Mike Urban of Mill Valley, California; and Chris Urban of Kentfield, California; and several great nieces and nephews.
His parents and two sisters, Carolyn and Elaine, died before him.
