David Emery Vincent

David Emery Vincent, 73, of Rogue River, died Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at his home.

No services are planned. Southern Oregon Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

David was born February 14, 1934 in Medford, Oregon to Emery and Ida (Hamilton) Vincent. He was a descendent of the pioneers that settled Oregon. His family came from Missouri on the Oregon Trail and settled in Sams Valley. David was raised on and among the many family homesteads in the Sams Valley and Table Rock area. He was proud of his ancestry and particularly proud of his Cherokee heritage. He had many occupations, working in the orchards, farms and mills. He was a dairy farmer and owned and operated his dairy for many years. He worked for the Rogue River School District for 21 years and retired as the Maintenance Supervisor for all four schools. He married his loving and caring wife, E. Jeanne Willson/Sanford on October 1, 1966 in Reno, Nevada. She attended to him faithfully through his many years of illness until he finally succumbed to lung cancer. David never met a stranger and will be missed by those who knew him.

He was president of the Josephine County Farm Bureau for 15 years and president of Classified Union Rogue River School District #35.

He enjoyed woodworking and making wooden toys. He also enjoyed gardening and landscaping.

In addition to his wife of 41 years, Jeanne Vincent of Rogue River; survivors include his five sons, David Vincent of Riddle; Rex Vincent of Vacaville, California; Paul Sanford of Grants Pass; Steve Vincent and Tim Vincent, both of Rogue River; two daughters, Cindy Vincent of Lodi, California; and Jamie Nabors of Tri City, Washington; two sisters, Ruth Burrill and Robin Vincent, both of Sams Valley; two brothers, Roy Vincent of Sams Valley; and Bruce Vincent of Portland; 17 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Darlene Dizick.
