Dave Raymond Deichler

September 15, 1950 — January 21, 2010

Dave Raymond Deichler passed away peacefully in his home in Grants Pass on Thursday January 21, 2010. He was 59 years old.

Dave was born on September 15th, 1950 in Oakland California and was the youngest of three. He is survived by his mother Darlene Deichler of Fremont CA., sister Darlene Deichler of Torrance CA., Brother Dennis Deichler of Fremont CA, beloved life partner Joni Quicker of Grants Pass and two nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Herbert Deichler.

Dave graduated from Mission San Jose High in 1968. He joined the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam from 1970 to 1971. He was proud of his service to his country. In 1972 Dave attended college for one year. In 1978 Dave moved to Oregon where he co-founded Homestead Log Homes, owned and operated a 7/11 store, worked at Wild River Brewing and Pizza Company and Farmers Market. He created and was working his business the Wolf Creek Pasta Company. Dave was active with three local Growers Markets and served on the boards. He was active in the wolf Creek community and also served as president of the Wolf Creek Civic Association board.

Dave was a gourmet cook with an emphasis on fresh and local foods. He made annual trips to a favorite village in Mexico with his fianc Joni making friends wherever he went. Dave’s passions were making Joni happy, loving his friends and family, and music. He enjoyed live music and played organ, piano, and guitar. He was an avid Neal Young fan. Dave also enjoyed photography, gardening, and bird watching.
